PHOTOACOUSTIC IMAGING

Photoacoustic imaging (PAI) is a relatively novel imaging method. It uses light to excite the sample but detects the light-induced acoustic waves to reconstruct the absorption map in 3D. This technique is especially useful for vasculature imaging due to the absorption of haemoglobin. PAI also has the capability for deep tissue imaging with centimetre level imaging depth.
